Do I need a doctor’s referral to come to physiotherapy?
A doctor’s referral is not required to receive private physiotherapy treatment unless you are being treated for a WSIB claim. Some extended healthcare providers require a medical referral, so it is best to check with your provider prior to your first visit.
How quickly will I be seen for my first appointment?
We will make every effort to book an appointment within 24 to 48 hours. Often times same appointments can be made.
How do I make an appointment?
You can make an appointment by phone by calling (613) 424-8400 or send us a email at info@advancedconceptsphysio.com and leave us your contact information and we will return your call usually within a 24 hour period.
What should I bring to my appointment?
If you are a new patient to the clinic please bring loose fitting clothing. We also ask that you arrive 10 minutes early in order to fill in the appropriate paper work such as intake forms and other legal documentation. Please bring pertinent information such as extended health plan benefit cards. If you have one, please bring a Doctor’s referral note, as well as any imaging reports (i.e X‐ray, CT scan, MRI, or other) and post‐operative protocols if you’ve been given them following surgery. If your injury is to the lower half of your body (low back to feet), please bring shorts with you. If your injury is to the upper half of your body and you are a female, please wear a sports bra or tank top so that we can appropriately assess the area. If your injury is related to your feet, please bring any custom orthotics and/or footwear that may be contributing to the symptoms.
How long will I be in the clinic for each session?
This depends on the injury and type of treatment you require, but expect to be in the clinic for approximately 60 minutes for your initial visit and 30 minutes to 40 minutes for follow-up sessions.
How many treatments will I need?
Every condition is individually evaluated, based on the person and severity of their condition and patient activity expectations. Your physiotherapist will advise you of an appropriate treatment plan after your initial assessment.
Does my extended health plan cover my physiotherapy and massage therapy treatment?
Most health plans cover some physiotherapy and massage therapy treatments. Check with your provider for more specific details.
Do you bill physiotherapy treatment directly to my insurance company?
We direct bill the following insurance companies: Blue Cross and Car Inssurance companies. You are responsible for submitting extended health receipts for all other insurance companies such as Sunlife, Great West Life, Manulife etc.
Are we in contact with your doctor?
We ask your permission to send your doctor an initial report after we have assessed you. This ensures that your family physician knows you are receiving physiotherapy for a specific problem and how long we expect to treat you. If you have been referred by a specific physician we will also send them an initial report of our assessment findings.
What are your clinic hours?
We are open from 7 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. (Monday to Thursday) and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. Our doors open early in case you have been instructed to arrive early to fill out forms. |
